Easter Sunday Walk
On 16th April 2017 by HelenToday I went with Lucy on the Spit to Manly walk. The weather was perfect for a good 10k hike. We got the bus to Spit and then followed the path which is well sign posted to Manly. I had absolutely no expectations of this walk, I didn’t know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised.
The walk is a real mix of costal paths and almost bushland. You pass a number of beaches on the way and there are amazing views back to the city and Watson Bay. The path itself is very narrow and is very busy the whole way and I would say you need a fair level of fitness to do this as it is mainly uphill a lot of the way, with some pretty uneven steps.
It took us about 3 hours in total. We were forced into a false sense of security at the end as we thought we had reached Manly but actually had another 30 minutes left to walk before we got there! However what a great 30 minutes it was passing by some absolutely dreamy houses (I’m sadly still searching for my millionaire).
Once in Manly we went to a really great cafe and I had (obviously) and Acai bowl topped with bee pollen, honey, banana and strawberry and Lucy had a chicken wrap. I had an apple, carrot and ginger juice and Lucy had a lemonade. We were starving by the time we ate and our legs had seized up completely, we were walking like a couple of slow old ladies by the end.
This walk is a definite worthwhile day trip and makes a good alternative to the Coogee to a Bondi walk, I would highly recommend it.
Hope you like the pictures!!
